Ski Camp

Welcome to the 2015 Nordic Ski Camp at Colby College

July 19 – July 23rd, 2015

Camp Description

Participants can to look forward to great dryland training, technique, video sessions, an opportunity to get introduced to a college campus, and a chance to spend 5-days amongst central Maine’s hills and lakes.  Learn the workouts that top skiers use to make them fast during the race season!

The camp is designed for skiers who will be entering freshman year of high school through high school seniors. We have allowed skiers who are attending college, so please contact us if you are in this age category.

All skiing abilities are welcome!  All skiers will train together, but we will have coaches assigned to different abilities and coaches will rotate among groups.  Workouts will be tailored to advanced, intermediate, and beginning skiers.  However, being in shape enough to run :30 minutes – 1:00 hour will allow you to get the most out of this camp.

Advanced  – This group will be doing quality training sessions that include strength, distance, intervals, and overdistance workouts.  There will not be emphasis on higher level technique or learning to rollerski.  You need to have been doing regular training to be in this group.   For athletes of this level, it will be an opportunity to get in a great week of high quality training!

Intermediate - This group will be able to do some quality training sessions with the advanced group and some classic and skate technique sessions.

Beginner  This group will be learning to rollerski and/or becoming more confident on their skis.  This group will focus less on the training aspects of skiing and more on learning the basics and getting up to speed on technique.  For those that are only beginning to ski, but are fit, you will be able to join either of the other groups for training sessions of your choice.

Colby head coach Tracey Cote will be coaching and directing this camp.  Other coaches will be announced on this page as we get closer to summer.  We will keep a small coach to athlete ratio.  Cost is $475 and includes food & lodging at Colby College, use of Colby athletic facilities, transportation to training sites, and all camp activities.
