The Colby Triathlon

Registration for the 2012 Colby Triathlon is now open!

This event will take place on Saturday September 22 at the Colby Hume Center on Messolonskee Lake.

Registration will be capped at 150 entrants and you will need to register by September 3rd to receive a Colby Triathlon Asics singlet.

Registration is only available online, so don’t miss it!

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23—–Alfond Athletic Center Lobby (Colby College Campus) click for directions to campus from maps.google.com

6 – 8 p.m. Packet pickup for racers. Pick up your numbers and schwag bags to avoid waiting in line on Saturday morning. If you pick up your packet and bag on Friday, you don’t need to go to the on-site registration tent on Saturday. Go in main doors of the Alfond Athletic Center and look to your left. Our tables will be set up there.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24, RACE DAY—– Colby-Hume Center, Messalonskee Lake, Sidney click for directions to the Hume Center from maps.google.com

6:45 – 8:45 a.m. Packet Pickup for racers – keep in mind, there is no day of race registration!

6:45 – 8:45 a.m. Transition area open. You need to pick up your packet before entering the TA, because you need to show your number to get in. Bodymarking upon entrance into the TA. Bike racks, first come first serve!

9:00 a.m. Race Start

11:15 a.m. Awards for top finishers and age group winners

We had a team start in the 1st wave, instead of the intended 2nd wave. It had a small effect on overall results and a bigger effect on swim split rankings (they had been ranked #1). Corrected times are posted here and on the results page.

Please also note that all splits were taken at the exit to the transition area. So “swim” includes swim plus transition, “bike” includes bike plus transition, and “run” includes just run.

Esponette and Pisani Win 2011 Colby Triathlon!

Despite the cloudy skies, the early morning rain ceased before race time; and the warmer than normal temperatures and enthusiastic spectators helped create another fun Colby Triathlon in its 7th annual running.

Tom Esponette and Nicole Pisani each pulled away from their competitors on the run, breaking wide open races that had been tightly packed up to that point for the victory at today’s 2011 Colby Triathlon on Messalonskee Lake in Sidney, Maine. We were very excited to have such a quality race field competing for the top spots. Congratulations to all the first time triathletes that joined us today, we are honored you chose us for your first race!

Update: Our originally posted results mistakenly listed our team winners Team Fossa as a DNF. We have corrected this in both the split and overall results linked below and wish to apologize to Team Fossa — great race!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2010 Colby Triathlon. It was awesome to watch Milan Babik and Nicole Pisani, our overall winners. Both had incredible performances from start to finish.

Congratulations also to Chris McGary and Katrine Alcaide, winners of the Xterra Wetsuits as first male and first female individual competitors to exit the water.

Please note that split times were recorded at the exit of the transition area; swim leg includes first transition, while wetsuits were awarded to those with the first foot out of the lake.

Thank you for a fantastic 4th Annual Colby Triathlon — What a day to race through sun-soaked Central Maine! Results are now posted with splits and transition times. We strive to provide a high-quality event with a beautiful venue, great prizes, friendly volunteers and accurate, quickly posted results; and we hope you all had a great time.

Hats off to our overall race winners, Thomas McWalters and Erin Brennan!! Both posted impressive wins and were fun to watch.

We are also proud of all the age group winners, and the many first-time triathletes that chose to make the Colby Triathlon their first race. Congratulations to all and come back and see us next year! As always, we promise great tunes!

And remember to mark the third Saturday in September for next year’s event.
