We had a team start in the 1st wave, instead of the intended 2nd wave. It had a small effect on overall results and a bigger effect on swim split rankings (they had been ranked #1). Corrected times are posted here and on the results page.

Please also note that all splits were taken at the exit to the transition area. So “swim” includes swim plus transition, “bike” includes bike plus transition, and “run” includes just run.

A special thanks to John Goodine from Elm City Photo in Waterville for taking such amazing pictures. Look for some of these to be on our website banner in the future!

Despite the cloudy skies, the early morning rain ceased before race time; and the warmer than normal temperatures and enthusiastic spectators helped create another fun Colby Triathlon in its 7th annual running.
Tom Esponette and Nicole Pisani each pulled away from their competitors on the run, breaking wide open races that had been tightly packed up to that point for the victory at today’s 2011 Colby Triathlon on Messalonskee Lake in Sidney, Maine. We were very excited to have such a quality race field competing for the top spots. Congratulations to all the first time triathletes that joined us today, we are honored you chose us for your first race!

Friday is packet pick-up at the Colby Athletic Center starting at 6pm. We will NOT be ready before 6pm, so please do not try to come early. Possible showers on Saturday. so come prepared, but it looks warm with a high around 77. Chances are the morning won’t be quite as cold as it’s been the last couple of years, but it may be more wet. We are really excited for the race and looking forward to seeing everyone! Remember that if you park within the Hume Center property, you will not be allowed to leave until all racers are finished. Good Luck!

We are in the final week of preparation for the Colby Triathlon. We have around 130 people registered so there will be a great crowd on hand for the race. We greatly encourage you to pick up your race packets on Friday night at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center on the Colby College campus. The building is located directly across from the football field and track. If you go in the front doors, we will be off to your left. Picking up your bag the night before greatly decreases the chaotic nature of a triathlon and allows you to get most things ready the night before. BIKE RACKS ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. However, because you enter and exit from different sides of the transition, all spots are pretty equal. Please watch the weather and dress appropriately. Even if you do not choose to use a wetsuit, please be aware that biking can be very cold when you are wet. We would rather have you take the time to change clothes in the transition then to get too cold on the course to finish. Also, the course will be the same as the past two years. We are trying to update the maps on our website, but we will use Webb Road to Eight Rod Road to Trafton Road – then the same as the course maps that are posted. We will have the current map posted and bag pick-up Friday night and Saturday morning. Safe travels, we look forward to seeing all of you!
